  1. Dave O'Neil says:

J.R. did you know that Senator Vick lied to you and the others in the room when we met on Tuesday?
After saying how he was all for the Bill S1274 to ban texting while driving, he actually was one of six that voted Nay.

Sen. Reed’s staffer blpurtay informed me that she did not know where the Senator stood on those three issues. She did not offer to pass my comments on to the senator.Representative Water’s intern said that she did support the new consumer protection agency, but that she hadn’t publicly announced her position on the other two. He said that he would pass my comments on to her.Rep. Frank’s office transferred me to the appropriate phone number, but the staffer who answered said he didn’t know where the representative stood because he had been busy running in and out of the office ; he transferred me to another person who he said could help me, but the number was busy and I left a message.Representative Kanjorski’s intern said that she did not know where he stood on the three issues, but would pass my comments on to him.

I talked with Barney Frank’s ocfife and the staffer listened very well (I asked him if he was still there at one point) and he sounded pretty sure about the the Consumer Protection part, much more so than the bailouts on Swaps and the banks required to show more proof they could cover their activity. The staffer said the goal of the meeting was to see that it didn’t happen again some of the smartest minds in that Conference room right now I mentioned that I think a lot of very intelligent people are at fault for this very crisis because obviously their interests weren’t that of the People’ and what’s important is whose interests are being represented now.He agreed and said my comments were noted . He did say there have been A LOT of calls on this .I guess I just caught a quick opening, unfortunately after I hung up I thought I should have asked if there were any calls opposing the things I called about. I do feel better about the Consumer Protection part tho’, because that was one point he seemed very sure of.

Thank you Brandon. Appreciate the feedback. J.R.

I’m really osfnuced by the new GAMC program, especially individuals with mental illnesses who are eligible for the program! Initially the Governor wanted to cut the program all together, but then developed a new plan to keep GAMC while cutting reimbursement to hospitals/clinics by 37%. Then the Governor decided to cut adult mental health funding to communities. How do all the cuts support individuals experiencing mental illness in the community? I will be interested to see how hospitals will continue to provide adequate services and continuity of care to low-income individuals experiencing mental illness with the involvment of Coordinated Care Organizations, which fee-for-service will also be implemented?? This is a disservice to this at-risk population! Oh yeah, I think somehow the State will be saving money too at the expense of our neighbor’s health..I’m interested in your thoughts on this..

Report on my calls:Barney Frank’s office was tllatoy non-committal on his position. They said as committee chair he will just listen to other committee members.Senator Dodd’s Office said that he supports the Kanjorski Amendment, the Lincoln language on derivatives, and supports the Cantwell language to strengthen regulation on big banks.Blanche Lincoln Sponsor of language on derivatives. Her aide said that she would pass on my comments urging support of her derivative language, support of the Kanjorski Amendment, and support of the Cantwell language to strengthen regulation on big banks.Senator Richard Shelby: His aid said that Senator Shelby opposes the Lincoln language on derivatives as he believes derivatives are a source of job creation. He supports the concept of the Kanjorski amendment to break up big banks. The aid didn’t know Senator Shelby’s position on the Cantwell language.
